Overview
In Manufacturing Intelligence, Class represents the foundation for defining how raw materials, inventory items, and production inputs are structured and tracked throughout the manufacturing process.
Before any manufacturing activity such as defining part numbers, creating BOMs, executing routes, or processing work orders can begin, the system must understand the type of items being produced and consumed. Class provides this structure by defining the attributes, properties, and behavior that manufacturing items will follow across the system.
In Manufacturing Intelligence, Class acts as the starting point that connects all manufacturing activities together.
Once a Class is created, it becomes the common reference used to define Part Numbers. Those Part Numbers are then reused when configuring Raw Materials, creating BOMs, assigning Routes, and executing Work Orders.
For example, a manufacturer producing industrial helical gears may first define a single Class that represents manufacturing items for that product line. The same Class is then used to create gear Part Numbers, associate raw materials required for production, define how materials come together in a BOM (Bill of Materials), and control how work progresses through routes and tasks.
Key Concept
To access the Class list in Manufacturing Intelligence:
The system displays the Class Summary page, listing all existing Classes.

|
The Class Summary page displays a tabular list of all Classes configured under Manufacturing Intelligence. Each row represents a single Class and includes:
attributes defined for the Class

Enter the name of the class (for example, Raw Rubber, Steel Rods, Chemicals).
Provide a short description of the class to explain its intended usage.
This section defines the attributes used to identify and differentiate categories or part numbers under the class.
These attributes are:
This section defines attributes specific to individual inventory items belonging to the class.
These attributes:
This section behaves the same as Asset Attributes under Asset Intelligence.
The Properties section in Manufacturing Intelligence differs from Asset Intelligence. Only the following properties are available:
Classes in Manufacturing Intelligence are intended for organizations that:
Class in Manufacturing Intelligence serves the same structural purpose as Asset Class but is tailored for managing raw materials and inventory items. While attribute definitions remain similar, properties are limited to those required for inventory and traceability use cases.
No. Classes are defined within their respective modules. Even though the structure is similar, Manufacturing Intelligence Classes are scoped exclusively to manufacturing and inventory workflows.
